Cycling-Pothin, Louis, Mougal early race winners |22 March 2013

The circuit race is to start at Cascade at 1.30pm in front of the Premier Auto Parts shop.

Last Sunday, cyclist of the year Edward Pothin of the St Francis club won the marathon 96km road race in a time of 3 hours 00 minute 02 seconds (3h00:02).
In the final sprint to the finish line, Francis Louis of Echo Cycling Club edged St Francis’ Ricky Rosalie and Roy Mougal. All three cyclists clocked 3h01:26.
Up-and-coming cadet cyclist Fadi Confiance – a member of the Echo Cycling Club – was ranked fifth with 3h07:00 – 6:58 slower than the winner.

The sixth to 13th places were occupied by St Francis’ Andy Rose (3h09:43), Journey Cycling Club’s Ahmad Arissol (3h13:07), Echo Cycling Club’s Raoul Gomme (3h14:34), Journey Cycling Club’s Jean-François Robert (3h18:52), Journey Cycling Club’s Peter Alphonse (3h28:05), Journey Cycling Club’s Oscar Constance (3h28:06), Journey Cycling Club’s Mario Joubert (3h40:00), and Journey Cycling Club’s Philip Malvina (3h47:49).

St Francis’ Errol Moumou and Journey Cycling Club’s Dean Hoareau abandoned the race.
Meanwhile, Royal Mougal was the winner of the first race of the season – a 60-lap circuit race in Victoria. He won a sprint in a time of 1h06:57 – the same time clocked by runner-up Ricky Rosalie and third place finisher Fadi Confiance.

Ricky Rosalie again lost on the final sprint against Francis Louis in the second race – a 71km (10-lap) circuit race at Cascade.
Rosalie and winner Louis finished with identical times of 1h36:18. Fadi Confiance was third in 1h36:36 ahead of Edward Pothin.
