Joe Samy’s music takes Cape Town by storm |04 April 2013

Performing live at the Alliance Française in Cape Town on March 26, Joe transported the 60-strong distinguished guests into another world. 
The show was an initiative of David Germain, the Seychelles Tourism Board director for Africa and the Americas. Joe was invited to perform at a Seychelles evening, with the aim of promoting the island destination within the context of the ‘Francophonie Week’.

The evening was infused with the Seychelles Takamaka Bay rum cocktails and smoked marlin canapés delicately prepared with subtle tangs of mango and passion fruit by four local ladies who have made Cape Town their new home.  Georgette Adrienne, Mary Marsac, Lynn Ernesta and Marlene Germain spent the whole day preparing the delectable snacks, adding a savory dash of exoticism to the ‘soirée’.

Commenting on the event, Mr Germain said: “It is a continuation of a good cooperation between the Seychelles Tourism Board and the Alliance Française of Cape Town as it is the second time that Seychelles takes part in such an event, the first being two years ago.”

He reckons that such activities help to raise the destination’s profile as our local music is very much appreciated in South Africa.

“It is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our culture which is a very important element in our destination marketing mix,” explained Mr Germain.

The event was not only an opportunity to showcase the Seychelles local musical and poetic talent, but to also raise the awareness of the destination among the invited guests through a video projection, brochures and other documents to take away, a speech by Mr Germain and of course the stellar performance of Joe Samy.
