Seven members of the Baha’i National Spiritual Assembly of Seychelles will join their fellow brothers and sisters from the far corners of the globe for this awe-inspiring and uplifting event.
The highlight of this auspicious occasion is the election on Monday April 29 of the Universal House of Justice, the nine-member International Governing Body of the world wide Baha’i community, a task which delegates view as both a sacred duty and a supreme privilege.

The balloting process to elect the Universal House of Justice is unlike any other election system in the world.  There are no nominations and strictly no campaigning.  Rather, each elector in a meditative and prayerful manner writes down the names of nine people they feel are the most qualified to serve. It is a very profound, moving and spiritual experience.

The International Convention, held every five years, runs from April 29 to May 2 in Haifa, Israel which is the World Centre of the Baha’i Faith.  In addition to the election, delegates are inspired by messages from the Universal House of Justice and consult together on future plans, exchange experiences and discuss concerns facing the worldwide Baha’i community.

Delegates also have the opportunity to have a mini pilgrimage as they visit the Baha’i Holy Shrines and  Sacred Sites and use it as an opportunity for spiritual regeneration and transformation.
