Health ministry’s infrastructure to be upgraded-• Some services to be relocated temporarily |29 April 2013

Starting today, the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) will move to a section of the D’Offay Ward so as to allow for minor renovation and medical gas pipe work to be carried out.  This work will last between a week and 10 days.

As from May 6, the English River Health Center (ERHC) will open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This is because the Accidents & Emergency (A&E) unit will be moving to an adjoining location to cater for serious emergencies only. Other cases will be forwarded to the ERHC.

Major renovation work on the main operating theatres will start as soon as the service moves to a temporary obstetrics theatre (OT) downstairs, next to A&E. The move is planned for May 15. 
The male medical ward has been moved back to its original location now that renovation work has been completed.

The vacated location (ex-psychiatric ward) will undergo major renovation work and refurbishment to allow the heamodyalisis unit to move there and hence have more space for the service.
The permanent move to the obstetrics theatre (already renovated) will be announced over the next ten days.
