Football: Barclays league division one-Corallie scores four to lead St Michel to victory |04 May 2013

The win has propelled St Michel to the top of the league table and the defending league champions could easily have gone into double figures against St Roch.

The boys of coach Ralph Jean-Louis had total control of this match and in the fifth minute Gervais Waye-Hive broke clear but his shot was parried by goalkeeper Randolph Bijoux.

In the 13th minute, Waye-Hive’s in-swinging corner dropped to defender Yannick Manoo at the far post but he headed wide.

A minute later, goalkeeper Bijoux denied Jean Del’Or Tsaralaza before producing another brilliant stop by blocking Del’Or’s point-blank shot after being set up by captain Don Anacoura and Jimmy Radafison.

St Michel continued to create numerous opportunities but they were either stopped in their stride by a vigilant Bijoux who stood defiant, or some wayward finishing.

After soaking much of the pressure, St Roch went on the offensive with a hopeful long range effort by Dan Pharce just past the half hour mark which goalkeeper Nelson Sopha pushed into corner.

In the 33rd minute, St Roch should have broken the deadlock as Terry Créa lofted a free-kick to Denis Belle who was in an offside position which was not signaled by assistant referee Gerald Pool. Belle though could not direct his shot on target, much to the relief of St Michel.

St Michel were again hard done by assistant referee James Emile in the 41st minute when Del’Or’s fierce shot was spilled by Bijoux. Waye-Hive burst through to punish the goalkeeper as he drilled the ball home, but assistant referee Emile flagged for a dubious offside much to the annoyance of the St Michel supporters.

St Michel finally opened the scoring in the 42nd minute from a sumptuous free-kick by Malagasy Hassan Aly who curled in a superb strike which flew into the top corner past Bijoux’s desperate dive to make it 1-0.

In the second period, Waye-Hive should have done better when he latched onto captain Anacoura’s through-ball but he shot over the crossbar.

St Roch had a decent opportunity to level matters in the 57th minute as Créa’s free-kick dropped to substitute Roy Julie but his control let him down when he was in the clear.

It was then that Corallie, who came on for Henny Dufresne early in the second half, took centre stage.
In the 62nd minute, Aly got the better of Malvin Pierre to cut back to Corallie who sneaked in front of coach/player Brian Ravinia to fire past Bijoux for a 2-0 lead.

Ten minutes later, Del’Or played a superb one-two with Corallie to open up a tiring St Roch defence and Corallie scored at the near post for a 3-0 advantage.

St Michel’s Del’Or was unlucky not to get on the score-sheet in the 79th minute as Nelson Laurence threaded a pass to him and his stinging shot crashed against the crossbar.

In the 82nd minute, St Michel combined well as Joel Barbé played a ball to substitute Wilnes Brutus who flicked it into the path of the overlapping Del’Or who unselfishly squared to Corallie and he easily shot into an empty net for a 4-0 lead to complete his hat-trick.

Corallie was not finished as he added a fourth goal in the 88th minute as he collected substitute Andy Mougal’s filtered pass to spring St Roch’s offside trap and thump the ball low to make it 5-0 – the final score.
