More Asian visitors expected after accord with Samsung’s sister firm

Mr Young Gyu with Dong Chang Jeong of the Seychelles Tourist Office, Korea

The accord was signed on May 15 in Seoul by Julie Kim, regional manager of the Seychelles Tourism Office in Korea and Seo Young Gyu, executive vice-president of e-business unit of CJO Shopping.

Following the MoU, Miss Kim expects the South Korean tourism market for Seychelles to expand. She has reassured the company of the Seychelles regional office's strong support.

South Korea, along with China, Japan and India are being viewed as potentially rich tourism markets to tap in Asia. Air Seychelles’ three weekly services to Hong Kong are likely to ease travelling for the Asian visitors.

Mr Young Gyu said CJO Shopping is expanding its market not only in on-line marketing, but also in social commerce and combining these with travel, cultural events and unique experiences.

He believes Seychelles is the perfect destination for such experiences.
CJO Shopping is one of the largest companies for TV and on-line shopping in Korea, achieving yearly sales of $1.1 billion in 2012.

It is an affiliate of the CJ group which is a Korean conglomerate active in media, television, home shopping, food, logistics and pharmaceuticals and was founded in 1953 as Samsung's sister company.
