Volleyball-Arsu stunned, Beau Vallon march on

Beau Vallon, unbeaten in four games, leads the Space95 men’s division one

Action from the Space95 women’s division one league saw La Digue take the court to face Arsu. Neutrals would have predicted a tough game with Arsu to perhaps scrape through to victory. On the day however, the story was different. La Digue showed determination to win the first and second sets on a similar 27-25 score. At that point, Arsu were expected to keep pushing to win the third set, but instead it was La Digue who managed to easily take the third set 25-12 and claim the win on a 3-0 (27-25, 27-25, 25-12) score in  one hour and 26 minutes. La Digue therefore lead the league table with 10 points after three wins and a loss in four games played. Arsu find themselves in third place on seven points after three games (two wins and 1 loss).

Cascade were able to keep their unbeaten start going with a 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-12) victory over Praslin Volleyball Club (PVC) in one hour 10 minutes. PVC lie in sixth place in the seven-team standings with 4 points in four matches (four losses and no wins), while Cascade are second with 9 points after three straight wins, with a game less than the leaders La Digue.

The longest match of the day was between Friends and Rainbow, where one hour and 46 minutes were needed to find a winner.

Rainbow were quick off the block and won the first set 25-15 and though Friends managed to put up more of a fight in the second set, they were again beaten 23-25. Knowing that losing a third set would cost them the match Friends came out stronger in the third set to win 25-14. Rainbow appeared to lose all their momentum and were again easily beaten 25-15 in the fourth set to set up a decisive fifth set. Friends managed to win the fifth set 15-07 to cap off a great comeback.

In the Space95 men’s division one, Beau Vallon increased their unbeaten start to four games when they easily won against rivals Racing Club who have been disappointing so far. It took one hour and six minutes for Beau Vallon to get the 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-18) victory at Palais des Sports. In the other match Premium Spikers kept the pressure on Beau Vallon by Beating Neo Boyz 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-17) in one hour 13 minutes. Beau Vallon lead the standings on 12 points, two ahead of Spikers who have 10 points after three wins and a loss. Neo Boyz are third on six points followed by Racing Club and Arsu Boyz with six and four points respectively.

The kokonet women’s division two featured two matches during the weekend. Ephilia Resort registered their second win of the campaign, winning against Bel Ombre 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-23) in one hour six minutes.
