Each school organised their own celebrations, which included school mass, tree planting, special assemblies, opening of reading rooms, as well as celebrations at class level.
In some cases, community partners and sponsors took the opportunity to make special donations to the schools.

The Minister for Education, Macsuzy Mondon, attended a special assembly at the Cascade primary school during which pupils of various house clubs -- Simplicity, Love, Unity and Peace -- conveyed special messages and reflections on values through songs and poems.

The assembly was also attended by member of the National Assembly for Cascade Charles De Comarmond, district administrator, PTA chairperson, students, teachers, parents and other guests.
In her message to mark the day, Minister Mondon called on all school children of Seychelles to make the most of the opportunities that they have to become the best that they can be.
“Be grateful for the love of your parents, for the inspiration of your teachers and for all the blessings that you receive every day,” read the minister’s message.

Other officials from the ministry visited special events at other schools on Mahé such as the adoption of Bel Ombre primary by the Indian Association of Seychelles, through the signing of a memorandum of understanding by the principal secretary for Education, Merida Delcy, Vijay Patel and head teacher Stella Nolin.

The day also saw the opening of a new playground and reading room for pupils at Anse Etoile primary as well as donation by Vijay Construction to Plaisance primary school.
