“I am excited about everything that has happened from winning the crown and for what the future holds for me,” she said.
“But I am taking things one step at a time, slowly, trying to get along with the new experiences and people. I am happy and I am enjoying this new journey.”
“One of my focuses as Miss Seychelles is to work with the young people to promote our beautiful and unique culture because I have seen that a lot of youths do not know much about this rich part of our heritage.”
With the help of the Seychelles Tourism Board, we will liaise with the Ministry of Education to set up a programme even if not in all schools but in most of them, she added.
Crowned only 10 days ago, the new Miss Seychelles has already graced some national events last week with her presence, especially with children.
She was joined by her princesses Isha Hoareau and Lindy Barallon on May 31, at La Plaine St André to celebrate Children’s Day with children with hearing impairment.
Miss Gerry also took part in charity work with the National Council for Children last week.
“My life has changed in a good way, I am adapting with being Miss Seychelles and coping well with the changes.”
Talking about the Miss World Beauty pageant in September, our new beauty queen said she is taking it as an experience and hopes to do her very best in representing Seychelles.
She will soon start with the preparation for the international event.
As part of her plans, Miss Gerry also wants to work with the other contestants who took part in the Miss Seychelles…Another World 2013, as they have been together for the three months before the pageant.
“During the three months, I have developed many new qualities and I thank the other girls for the great experience I have had with them. I am happy to say that our bond still remains after the contest,” she said.
To the young people, Miss Gerry has these few words to say.
“Nothing is impossible in life, so take the opportunities you get and remember that it is good to get various experiences which help to make your life better,” she said.
