Intense rehearsal for National Day parade gets underway

A scene from the parade rehearsal yesterday

Speaking to Nation yesterday parade coordinator Major Simon Dine said alongside the different  platoons representing the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces (SPDF) and other local groups there will also be platoons from the Indian, Russian and Chinese navies with the Danish navy yet to confirm its participation with a platoon as well.

Major Dine said intense rehearsal which started yesterday will be carried out from 3pm onwards up to 6.30pm tomorrow, Friday and Saturday.

“It is important to have the intense rehearsal to keep up the good momentum and fine tune every detail,” said Major Dine.

Major Dine said like always preparations for the big event started months ago and have intensified over the past few weeks.

He said like always the platoons of visiting foreign navies will be integrated with our locals in a diversity of culture and a myriad of colours.

Major Dine is calling on the public to come in large numbers to celebrate our 20th National Day.

“It is an occasion to celebrate our nation and a great chance for the young people who are yet to decide on a career path to be inspired by the military displays and why not decide to join the military. Opportunities abound in the force,” added Major Dine.

Meanwhile Major Dine said the parade will be marked by a fly past by SPDF and EUNavfor planes which the public is being encouraged to come and enjoy.
