Seychelles’ HC to Australia and New Zealand accredited

HC William presented his credentials to the governor general of New Zealand Jerry Mateparae in a ceremony held in Wellington on May 16.

During their meeting, HC William and governor general Mateparae discussed the ongoing issues of piracy in the Indian Ocean region, with a commitment to engage further on the issue.

Mr William took the opportunity to extend the thanks of the people and government of Seychelles for the educational cooperation with New Zealand in particular for the university scholarships awarded over the past years.

Mr William, who is also Seychelles’ resident high commissioner in Delhi, India, presented his credentials to governor general Quentin Bryce of Australia in a ceremony held at Government House in Canberra on March 27.

During their meeting issues of maritime security, tourism as well as environmental protection and climate change were discussed.

The high commissioner also took this opportunity to extend the congratulations of the Seychelles government to Australia for successfully securing a non-permanent seat on the United Nations security council for the period 2013-2014.
