Tennis: Cerf Island resort tournament-Kanté, Roquain victorious |12 June 2013
In the women’s singles final, Fatim Kanté, who has made a comeback to the sport she once dominated, took a fairly easy win over Marie-May Isnard. The final score was 2-0 (6-2, 6-1). Kanté had earlier defeated reigning tennis player of the year Clyvie Delpech on a 2-0 (6-4, 6-2) score, while Isnard had to beat Eugenie Zahrini 2-0 (6-1, 6-1) to reach the final.
Titouan Roquain defeated Sylvester Delpech 2-0 (6-3, 6-4) in the semifinal to set up a men’s singles final appearance against Bernard Mein who beat Garry Albert 2-0 (6-2, 6-1) in the other semifinal.
In the final, Roquain managed to fight to a 6-3 first set win, but Mein made it easier for his opponent as he made too many unforced errors in the second to hand Roquain a 6-2 second win and the match on a 2-0 score.
