This year’s competition for school children has for the theme ‘Seychelles biodiversity …. Our people, Our green and blue economies’.

Sponsored for the third consecutive year by Jimmy Butt, Seychelles Tourism Board ambassador based In Lusaka, Zambia, the school photographic competition’s top prize has been hiked up from R10,000 to R15,000.

The Celebrates Seychelles events department said that the school competition is getting better and bigger each year and is attracting more participants. Beryl Matatiken, manger of events and conferencing at the STB, said this third contest will “surely draw more participants to the competition”.

The organisers are on the lookout for pictures capturing the extraordinary diversity of Seychelles, with its people of diverse ethnic origins, cultures and religions living harmoniously together. Special emphasis is being put on images of people, sites and scenes portraying the multi-cultural aspects of Seychelles.

The objective is to come up with some iconic pictures of the islands and its diverse natural assets that “tell a story” and are powerful enough to be used as posters or other publicity materials.
Registration forms for the competition can be collected at the STB and the deadline for submission of all photos is September 13, 2013.
And who knows, the lucky boy or girl might also be shooting himself or herself to fame.
So, get your camera and make it happen!
