Reunion trade partners and their Seychellois counterparts from the STB marketing section attended a workshop between June 3-6 at Hôtel Le Récif in Reunion to share success stories and discuss the pull-out of Air Austral on the Seychelles route.

STB marketing executives Christina Cecile and Valerie Payet who are responsible for the Indian Ocean markets, said their presence in Réunion “was a prime opportunity to get acquainted with their Reunion partners” and work together to create a positive market sentiment following the pull-out of direct flights from Reunion to Seychelles.

They said that on the first day of their working visit they were warmly welcomed by Reunion tour operators, adding that despite being sceptical about the potential of the Seychelles-Reunion market to record positive growth, the tour operators are supportive of Seychelles’ call to maintain visitors flow between the two islands.

The tour operators have given a thumps-up to STB’s initiatives for the ground-breaking exercise and one-to-one contact with their Reunion counterparts on all corners of the island.

“It is of prime importance for the STB to forge a good working relationship with its Reunion counterparts to sustain the positive performance of the Reunion market to Seychelles,” they said.

The two STB marketing executives concluded their working visit with a presentation of the Carnaval International de Victoria organised by l’íle de la Réunion du Tourisme (IRT).
Prior to their official mission in Reunion, the two marketing executives were in Madagascar to showcase Seychelles at the international tourism fair in Tana.
