During the meeting, the delegation discussed ways in which the two parliaments can further strengthen relations especially with regard to cooperation in building capacity of parliamentary committees.

The delegation also discussed the role of women in politics and government and commended the Seychelles and the National Assembly on its achievements in empowering women and ensuring that women have access to equal opportunities.

Comprising members of the Government Assurances & Implementation Committee of the Parliament of Uganda, the delegation is currently on a five-day visit to the National Assembly where they will meet with the Committee on Government Assurances and exchange ideas on best practices and procedures, especially with regard to the work of the two committees.

Both committees have a similar mandate whereby they follow up on assurances made by the government/executive, ensure that assurances are implemented or seek explanations on delays in implementation.

During their visit, the delegation will also pay a courtesy call on Vice-President Danny Faure, Chief Justice Fredrick Egonda-Ntende and the two leaders in the Assembly.
The delegation is headed by Odonga Otto, who is the chairperson of the Government Assurances & Implementation Committee.
