Music students complete international exams |04 July 2013

The examinations carried out by the Association Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), took place at the school on July 1 and 2.

Mr Snary, who is on his first visit to Seychelles, said the School of Music is doing a good job, adding he has not seen any weaknesses in the work being done there.
He added that the students he has seen and examined during the two days have talent.

The director of the National Conservatoire of Performing Arts Pierre Joseph said the students have been assessed on their performances, the use of their instruments and their voice among other things.

They were also asked questions by the international examiner as part of the examinations.
Mr Joseph added that these practical examinations form part of the school’s syllabus.

After these examinations, students will be awarded an international certificate from the ABRSM.

Mr Snary is a pianist, accompanist, adjudicator and conductor who has wide musical and educational experience.

As a pianist and accompanist, he has wide experience of the chamber of music repertoire and he regularly conducts for the University of the West of England.

Those who were taking the exams were students who use instruments such as clarinet, guitar, violin, piano and viola, as well as those who sing.

The exams took between 10 and 30 minutes depending on the performances.
