Cricket: Vijay T20 League -Patel Youth knock Vijay B out

Byron scored 55 not out Thereafter Lalji and Arvind stabilised the innings, with Lalji scoring 22 and Arvind 32. Dhiraj and Dinesh then added to the total with 9 and 14 respectively and Mukesh got into the act with a quick 18. After that, the batsman failed to contribute much more to the total and Vijay ended on an unconvincing 114 runs.

Patel Youth had some very economical bowling figures with Divesh getting 4 wickets for 16 runs in 4 overs and Ajit managing to get 2 for 14 after 4. In came the hungry team of Patel Youth who started well with Naresh and Hitesh scoring well with a 42 and 41 respectively and their next biggest scorer was extras with 5 byes and 12 wides and this left the rest of the batsman to score 15 runs. This they did in a very comfortable fashion and Patel youth won by 5 wickets with 2 overs to spare.

This win impacted largely on the table as it knocked Vijay B out of 4th position into 5th and Patel youth moved up into 4th gaining a place in the semi-final playoffs.

Young Stars Byron Paul scores 55 to win first game of the season

Another exciting game was played in the afternoon where the youth team of the ‘Young Stars’ battled with the Eden Kings.

Kings won the toss and chose to bat, hoping to set a good total but they batted in a very lack luster manner, losing wickets frequently with the only batsman Santesh scoring 38, posting a paltry total of 95 in the end. Miland took 4 wickets and Ricky 2.

In came the ‘Stars’ to bat and Rangan, the opening bat, managed a fluent 13 runs but wickets tumbled around him until Byron Paul came in and settled the innings with Milind. Milind batted very maturely letting Byron score freely once he had got his eye in and although Miland only scored 7 runs he managed to change the ends and set the game up along with Byron for a memorable win, their team’s first of the year.

After the fall of Milind, Sachin came out to help Byron and he scored 10 runs off 9 balls putting Byron on strike who hit a 6, scoring the winning runs and personally scoring 55 runs not out and he was definitely the man of the match. Neil bowled very economically with 3 wickets for 8 runs but it was not enough.

Young stars

The Stars won by 6 wickets with 2 overs to spare a fantastic win for the lads who have not given up trying the whole season.
