Basketball: National League-Cobras stop Dawgz, Heat bounce back |23 July 2013

Amadou Sylla led Premium Cobras to a 57-42 win over Mont Fleuri Dawgz with 20 points on Sunday. Dawgz came into the game in confident mood after collecting two successive wins, one of those against league leaders Beau Vallon Heat.

The game started at a very slow pace, with both sides’ shooting letting them down. The score after the first 10 minutes of play was 8-2 in favour of Premium Cobras. The intensity of the game picked up a little in the second and third quarters, but Premium Cobras had opened a 10-point lead over their opponents. The fourth quarter produced some very good actions and even though there were a few heated moments in the match among some players, Premium Cobras went on to win the fourth quarter 21-16 to win the game.
Cyril Agrippine led the scores for Dawgz with 17 points.

Beau Vallon Heat returned to winning ways with a victory against RC Dynamics. Robert Leon scored a game-high 40 points to lead all scores in a 96-68 win for the Heat.

It was in the third quarter that Beau Vallon Heat managed to break away from their opponents when they opened up a 22-point lead which proved too much for Dynamics to chase.
Mamadou Diallo led the scoring for Dynamics with 18 points, while Kenneth Domingue added 11.

Defending champions PLS Hawks had a tough time against Angels but managed to get the win in an 82-73 victory.

Alao Solomon was the top scorer with 24 points for the Hawks, who also had a 15-point contribution from Rodney Lozé. Eddy Armand was the top scorer for Angels with 14 points.

In the men’s second division, Praslin Warriors trounced AAP Brothers 84-33, with Jackson Auguste getting 36 points to lead the scoring. Theodore Marguerite and Michel Marie contributed eight points each for AAP.

In the other bottom division match, Cascade Bullets beat Anse Etoile 84-65 with Kenneth Sophie leading the scoring with 35 points for Bullets. Christian Toulon was close behind for Anse Etoile with 32 points.

In the women’s league, 29 points from Simone Malbrook earned Anse Etoile Stars an easy 90-23 win over Juniors. Laura Françoise scored 12 points to lead Juniors.
