VTS launches new e-service |22 May 2017

The department of information and communication technology (DICT) has unveiled another of its latest e-services coming on-stream which they have been working on with the Seychelles Land Transport Agency (SLTA).

This e-service which provides online booking services for the Vehicle Testing Services (VTS) follows the new online system established by the Seychelles Planning Authority.

The director general (DG) in the IT division of DICT Hendrick Andre led a presentation on the new government e-service during the opening ceremony of ICT Week held last week.

The opening was done by Vice-President Vincent Meriton who has portfolio responsibility for ICT.

In order to get a vehicle tested, an appointment has to be booked with VTS so prior to the launch of this new service the customer had to call the vehicle testing station and place an appointment with the cashier.

Mr Andre said the system was working fine but it had several limitations.

“You only had access to the service from 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday, and then the service might also be impeded due to busy phone lines,” he said.

He said the simple solution to that is having the customer book their appointment at their own convenience using an automated service with access to internet, then payment can be made to the cashier on date of appointment.

“In future you will not only be able to book your appointment online but payment for the testing fee will also be available,” he said.

The process to book an appointment online can be done through the Seychelles governmental portal of e-gateway service on https://eservice.egov.sc/eGateway/homepage.aspx.

This new service was launched by the chief executive (CEO) of SLTA Parinda Herath.
