Free kidney screening campaign at Beau Vallon on Saturday |07 December 2017

Adults above 40 years residing in Beau Vallon, Bel Ombre, St Louis, Glacis and neighbouring districts are being encouraged to get themselves screened during the 5th free kidney screening campaign to take place on Saturday as from 8am at the Beau Vallon health centre.

In the 4th phase held on Praslin and La Digue recently, 477 participants were screened, media executive of the Lions Club  D.V. Sharma has said.

He added that some 175 participants are being targeted in this forthcoming campaign and noted that there have been many requests for such a campaign in that region.

He is calling on those planning to come for the screening tests not to fast before coming.

He stressed that Seychelles suffers a double-burden of disease – a still persistent threat of infectious diseases and a rapidly rising threat from non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer, heart and kidney diseases in particular. Treatment of these non-communicable diseases has been changing rapidly over the years, and the health system has had to adapt and readapt to keep up to date with the newer protocols.
