Table Tennis: May Monthly Challenge-Esther and Bristol top division winners

For the May Challenge which did not feature the elite players, the boys played in three divisions, while the girls battled into two groups. The competition began on a league basis, before the top two in each group met in the finals.

In the boys’ division one final, Esther had to dig into his reserve and come back from two sets down to beat Dario Laurence 4-3 before going home with the top prize. The set scores were 11-8, 9-11, 10-12, 9-11, 11-8, 11-8 and 11-9. Mick Créa finished third in the group.

As for Bristol, her experienced was an asset in the girls’ division one final which she won by straight sets 4-0 (11-6, 14-12, 11-2, 11-9) over Laura Sinon. Angelique Volcy was the group’s third-place winner.

Richard Morel was the grand winner of the boys’ division two group, after he defeated Alex Hoareau 3-1 in the final. The set scores were 11-6, 11-4, 9-11 and 11-9. Damien Ally was third in the category.

A 3-0 (11-9, 11-6, 11-8) victory over Richard Casquette crowned Aaron Clothilde as the boys’ division three winner, while Philip Sham-Hong was the group’s third best.
Emlyn Quatre was the girls’ division two winner, ahead of runner-up Zahira Khattab and third-place finisher Emmanuella Labrosse.
