Certified zumba exercise instructor Seychelles-born Bessie Fisher who lives in Spring Colorado, United States is using her holiday to introduce the activity by giving several free classes. Ms Fisher is conducting classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the La Promenade Gymnasium.

Speaking to Sports Nation, Ms Fisher said zumba – which she described as the dance party without the alcohol – helps to burn 800 to 1000 calories per session. She added that apart from the health benefit, practicing zumba is also fun as it can be done to any kind of beat.

Zumba involves dance and aerobic elements and its choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo, martial arts, and some Bollywood and belly dance moves. Squats and lunges are also included.
The exercises include music with fast and slow rhythms, as well as resistance training.
