Basketball: National League-Will Baya halt Hawks’ first-round unbeaten run?


Robert Léon (dribbling) and Baya will try to stop veteran Jim Domingue and the HawksIn their last first-round league match this afternoon at the Victoria Gymnasium, the boys of coach Alix Allisop will face second-placed Baya who have registered a single defeat and are only one point short of Hawks.

Eliminating every team in their way, Hawks have garnered a maximum 14 points.

In their last league match on Sunday, they defeated Premium Cobras 73-63.

After winning the first two quarters 15-8 and 18-11 for a comfortable 33-19 half-time- lead, Hawks let down their guard in the third quarter which they lost 26-18.

They however managed to get their game back together during the final quarter which they won 22-18.

As for Baya, they had a two-week break to work on their set-up, following their last league match where they registered an 85-74 victory over Premium Cobras. Baya are on 13 points from six wins and a single defeat – 62-83 -- by Mont Fleuri Dawgz.
