Drug trafficking-Seychellois suspect arrested in Nairobi

04-August-2012

The man was arrested as he was about to board a flight from Nairobi to Dubai. A check of his luggage revealed that he was carrying a consignment of 3.71 kilograms of a suspect substance believed to be heroin.

The NDEA has targeted the travel patterns of certain individuals and has been monitoring flights to and from a number of destinations including Kenya.

The agency believes that a substantial portion of the heroin entering Seychelles is transited through Kenya, from where it is routed to Seychelles using a variety of concealment methods.

The agency is awaiting further details of the man’s arrest and will be cooperating further with the Kenyan authorities and other international agencies during the course of the investigation.
