The course was launched yesterday at the Maritime Training Centre (MTC) in the presence of Chief Fire Officer Andre Morel and his deputy, Albert Rose.

The course will include inspection of buildings, enforcing codes and some site visits, said Jacob Kruger of ETS.

Launching the course, the Fire Services Divisional Officer, Regis Bethew, said he is sure that the delegates will show determination and commitment to enhance their knowledge and capacity.

He expressed confidence that the course will allow the officers to learn new techniques to ensure the safety of people and prevent loss of life and property.

Mr Kruger noted that several of the fire officers on the course have already been trained at the ETS headquarters, 30km from Johannesburg.
