08-October-2012

LARUE – junior Mr Regatta                   MEKDACHI … Mr Regatta 2012

Ten posers – six seniors and four juniors – lined up for the competition which was not organised last year, and Mekdachi made it back-to-back win on Friday after winning the title for the first time in 2010.

Friday’s competition was hosted by charitable organisation Seychelles Round Table as part of activities of the annual Regatta event and was open to all local posers, regardless of their sporting affiliation.

The athletes contested in the group categories, followed by the elimination rounds before qualifying for the best-of-six final where four seniors and two juniors were selected.

With a well-sculpted body, Mekdachi, who also won the best poser award, easily topped the senior group ahead of Rodney Henriette, Fabien Antat, Joe Gabriel, Gabriel Coeur de Lion and Eddy Racombo.

In the junior group, Larue finished ahead of second-placed Eric Kallee, third-placed Kevin Laurette and newcomer Silvio Sirame who was ranked fourth.

In the grand final, Mekdachi was once again untouchable as he clearly won to retain his Mr Regatta title. Rodney Henriette finished second overall ahead of Fabien Antat who was third.
Joe Gabriel was fourth overall ahead of junior posers Ricky Larue and Kevin Laurette who finished fifth and sixth respectively.

On Friday’s programme was also the newly-introduced ‘Mr Fitness’ aimed at raising awareness on the importance of exercise for staying healthy and three contestants took part.

Davis Dugasse finished first ahead of ex-professional volleyballer Guy Valentin, while Alain Rosalie finished third in the group.

There was also a flex show by guest poser Nelson Jean.

All winners received cash prizes – sponsored by Spendless Boutique and Siba (Seychelles International Business Authority) – as well as medals, trophies and nutritional products. All those who took part received a medal and a certificate of participation.
