On behalf of Ambassador Spada and Alexandra Azaïs, chargé d’affaires of the embassy of the Order of Malta and also a member of the Seychelles Children’s Foundation, Franca Berardi, first secretary of the embassy, presented the toys to Dr Philip Govinden this week.

Present for the ceremony were Noella Gontier and staff of the Seychelles Children’s Foundation, doctors and staff of the pediatric ward and many children.

Mrs Berardi said it is important to bring relief and joy to the young patients so as to help them get over their illnesses as quickly as possible.

She added that the aim of the embassy is to contribute to the well-being of children and that the donation was done in line with First Lady Natalie Michel’s ‘A friend in me’ programme run by the Seychelles Children’s Foundation.

Mrs Berardi thanked the sponsors – Graziano and Barbara Zucchetto, Alessandra Tamai and Davide Onofri from the Club Scuba & Sail Adventures – for  offering  the toys  as well as her husband Luigi for providing transport for free.

Mrs Gontier and Dr Govinden then thanked Mrs Azaïs and the embassy of the Order of Malta as well as the sponsors for this gesture and highlighted the role played by the embassy towards the Seychelles Children’s Foundation, the Ministry of Health and many other institutions in Seychelles for many years.
