After winning the under-13 league competition ahead of St John Bosco, River Star earned a convincing 3-0 win over Plaisance in the under-13 final on Saturday at Stad Linite to complete a league and cup double.

River Star’s feat was emulated by the St Michel under-20 team who hammered La Passe 4-1 in Saturday’s final played just before their senior team’s last Barclays league division one fixture against LightStars which they won 7-1 to win the championship with an unbeaten record in 18 matches.

Coached by former Seychelles and St Michel captain and midfielder Roddy Victor, the St Michel under-20 team also won the league title.

After clinching the under-17 league title, St John Bosco could not complete the double as they lost on penalties to St Michel in last Friday’s final at the Astroturf pitch.

With the score tied at 1-1 after normal time, St Michel scored four penalties while St John Bosco netted three.

Luck surely wasn’t on St John Bosco’s side in the Vijay Cup competition as they also lost the under-15 final on penalties to Plaisance, thus finishing short of a double as they had already been crowned league champions ahead of Team RA.

Once again, the score was level at 1-1 after normal time and a penalty shootout was needed to decide the winners. Plaisance won the title after scoring five and St John Bosco got four.
