Agency for Social Protection loses chief executive-• President sends condolences

Ms Pierre was the chief executive officer of the Agency for Social Protection, and had a long and distinguished career in the civil service.

She recently suffered from a stroke and had been in critical condition.
"It is with great sadness that I heard of the demise of Ms Pierre. This loss is a terrible shock to us all. She was a remarkable woman, whose compassion, determination and energy were an inspiration to us all. Ms Pierre will be greatly missed and mourned by the Seychellois nation. On behalf of the government and the people of Seychelles, I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family, and in this difficult moment, our prayers are with the family and friends of Ms Pierre," said President Michel.

Ms Pierre started her career in the National Provident Fund, which later became the Social Security Fund and is today the Agency for Social Protection.
