The Roche Caïman pools hosted the series, which will comprise eight days of swimming ending on August 16.

Male and female swimmers will compete in four age groups – 9 years and under, 10-11 years, 12-13 years, and 14 years and over.

They will take part in all four strokes – freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly and backstroke – and over three distances – 50m, 100m and 200m.

Competitors will be awarded points, starting with 20 points for first place, 18 for second, 16 for third, 14 for fourth, 12 for fifth, 10 for sixth, 9 for seventh, 8 for eighth, 7 for ninth, 6 for 10th, 5 for 11th, 4 for 12th, 3 for 13th, 2 for 14th and 1 for 15th and any other finish.

All times registered in the 12 events being raced for the first time will go down as new records, and swimmers will get an extra two points if they break the competition records in the following series.

At the end of the eight series, the points will be added up and the top-three finishers in each age category will receive prizes. There will also be two special prizes for the two highest point getters.

The Seychelles Swimming Association, which is running the competition, is calling on members of the public to help with officiating.
