Letter to the Editor- ‘We are all proud of you Bishop French’

Mr Mancham congratulating Bishop French after the mass on Sunday

A service which was attended by many friends and admirers from all levels of our society up to His Excellency the President of the Republic, James Alix Michel himself.

I was personally proud to be in the congregation as French was my classmate throughout the 6 years which we spent at the Seychelles College sharing the tutelage and guidance of our beloved headmaster, the late Brother Austin O'Donnel.

I am sure that the same sense of pride and joy is shared by others who were in class with us and benefited from his friendship and comradship - Rolly Baker, Eli Bakas, Marcel Coopoosamy, Antoine Lau-Tee and Gerard Maurel, to name a few who are still making news in Seychelles today.

The whole ceremony reminded me of the words of William Penn: "I expect to pass through this life but once. If therefore there is any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again".
Congratulations French, your classmates as the Nation are proud of you.
James R. Mancham
