19-June-2013

The only game played in the Space 95-sponsored women’s first division last weekend featured Rainbow against La Digue.

It was a tense match that went all the way to five sets and one hour 55 minutes of play. The two teams traded sets as La Digue won the first 25-23 only for Rainbow to equalise at one set all with a 25-21 second set win. The third set was much tighter as La Digue scraped through 27-25. When most of the spectators expected La Digue to close the game, they were completely dominated in the fourth set which they lost 8-25. And despite battling harder in the fifth set, La Digue could not stop Rainbow from coming out with a 15-10 victory to close the game on a 3-2 score.

With the win, Rainbow are now level on points – 11 – with La Digue in third position. La Digue are second and both teams have three wins and two losses in five games. Cascade lead the standing on 12 points after amassing four wins in as many matches played in the seven-team league.
