Libyan embassy donates during Ramadan

Libyan embassy Consular Attaché Mohamed Almagrahi gave the donations yesterday to the two institutions which fall in the Anse Etoile district.

Also present were Libyan embassy public relations officer Ahmad Alfaraj, Hassan Hussein and Anse Etoile district administrator Aselma Pilate.

It was in a small ceremony that Mr Almagrahi presented his donation to residents of the La Retraite home for the elderly.

“In the Holy month of Ramadan, on behalf of Chargé d’Affaires Khairi Elalem and the Libyan embassy staff, I would like to present this simple gift which may bring joy and happiness to the hearts of the people living here, and remind them that there is someone who cares about them,” Mr Almagrahi said.  Ms Pilate accepted the donation, which comprised two LED televisions and some basic food items such as rice, biscuits, and oil.

After bringing a smile on the faces of the elderly people, Mr Almagrahi made his way to the Foyer de Nazareth.

As it was around 11.30am when he got there, the place was very quiet because all the boys were in school. But the nuns were there to receive him. Again Ms Pilate accepted the donation of basic food items such as cornflakes, juices, biscuits, and more.

“We hope that this small contribution will help to uplift and bring a smile on the children’s faces,” Mr Almagrahi told the nuns.

Ms Pilate, on her part, thanked Mr Almagrahi and his embassy for such a noble gesture.

Mr Alfara said: “We love to take care of children and elderly people for they are the most vulnerable in society. We need to take care of the elderly people for what they have contributed for what we have in the present. And we need to take care of the children to assure our good future.”
