Young entrepreneurs showcase talents through expo | 12 August 2019
A youth expo showcasing the talents of young entrepreneurs was launched on Saturday morning at the National Sports Council (NSC) hall at Roche Caiman after the official opening of the Youth Festival which took place at Palais des Sports earlier.
The expo was a chance for the young businessmen and businesswomen to expose and interact with the public regarding their businesses, creations and innovations. Several high government officials, members of the National Assembly and other guests, including the youths who were present at the opening of the Youth festival, came down from Palais des Sports to view the Expo.
The hall had a variety of stalls featuring a wide range of businesses such as gardening, cleaning and landscaping, agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, building maintenance, carpentry, arts and crafts, sewing and textile, pastry, juice makers, decorations, gifts, moto bike dealer, hair dressing, recycling, childminding, printing and laminating, health, among others.
Four post-secondary schools – the National Institute of Health and Social Studies (NIHSS), Seychelles Business Studies and Accouting (SBSA), Seychelles Institute of Art and Design (SIAD) and the Seychelles Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture (SIAH), along with the National Council for Children (NCC), Airtel and SNYC were present to showcase the work they do and the services and programmes they offer.
The public also had the opportunity to watch and appreciate live creations. Some of the products on display were for sale.
There were also fun and games at the expo for children and a kid’s corner for parents to leave their kids while they view the expo.
Several youth groups performed in a cultural show in the afternoon.
The youths also participated in a sports fiesta at the Roche Caiman Sports Complex the whole day yesterday, Sunday.
The youth activities continue today with a volleyball competition and cross country on Praslin and a coastal hike on the inner islands.
