Hearing of witnesses, suspects starts today

 

Hearing of the first witnesses and suspects in the different cases before the Truth, Reconciliation and National Unity Commission will start today at the National House.

In the first hearing sessions, the commissioners of the Truth, Reconciliation and National Unity Commission (TRNUC) will be hearing six cases starting today, Monday September 9, until Tuesday September 17, 2019.

The hearings will start at 9.30am and will be broadcast live on Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) radio and television and among the different witnesses expected to be heard on different reported events that happened after June 5, 1977 are former soldier Guy Roucou, Bishop French Chang Him, Dr Maxim Ferrari, Dolor Ernesta among others.

The hearings will be carried out in court-like sessions and those wishing to follow are being asked to respect the rules and conduct themselves as they would in a court.

In that respect, there will be two closed door hearings – case number 001 of Mrs Dorothy Chang Him and family as well as case number 003 of Mr Daniel Auguste.
