APEX contributes towards nutrition health of swimmers

Mr Philoe hands over one of the cartons of juice to Mr Roucou in the presence of some young swimmers

APEX, one of the suppliers of quality perishable products to hotels and the hospitality sectors in Seychelles, has donated 24 x 24 cartons of juice to local swimming club Mahé Skimmers.

The handover ceremony took place on Tuesday afternoon at the swimming pool at Roche Caïman.

Julien Philoe, representing APEX, handed over the cartons of juice of the ‘Ceres’ brand to the chairman of the Mahé Skimmers swimming club, Ron Roucou. Present were some committee members and swimmers of the club and other representatives of APEX.

The donation constitutes three months’ supply as part of the swimming club’s recovery nutrition programme for its swimmers.

Mr Philoe said APEX is happy to contribute towards the health of the swimmers and he hopes the juices will help add to their recuperation after training.

On the part of Mahé Skimmers swimming club, vice-chairperson Mevis Fock-Heng thanked APEX through Mr Philoe for the donation and said it will surely contribute immensely to the swimmers’ recovery nutrition.

Since the launch of the swimming club in July 2015, Mahé Skimmers has to date around 200 swimmers in different age groups: learn to swim, intermediate, advance and elite.

Mrs Fock-Heng said the juices will be distributed to only the 41 elite swimmers in the club as part of their recovery nutrition in between and at the end of their training sessions because of the amount of intensive training they do.

She noted that the club always supplies the swimmers with fruits and juices as part of their recovery nutritious programme at training sessions.

Mahé Skimmers swimmers train in the morning on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 5am to 7.45am and in the evening on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 3.15pm to 6pm.

APEX was incorporated in 2005, operating a small chiller room in Providence on Mahé before moving to the Financial Services Authority (Ex-SIBA) Bois De Rose. It now runs nine warehouses including three freezer rooms, three chiller rooms and three dry storages. Apart from Mahé, APEX also offers its services on Praslin and La Digue.
