Gold medal for Leah Pool in 200m


Sprinter Leah Pool won a gold medal at the recently-held Mauritius U18 Inter-Iles, after finishing first in the 200m final where she clocked 25.88 seconds.

Pool was also in action in the 400m where she finished third overall in 1 minute 04.02 seconds (1:04.02).

In long jump, Geesha Capricieuse leaped 4.79m to finish second overall, while in 400m Amirah Lespoir finished sixth overall, clocking 1:13.84.

In high jump, Debbie Songoire registered a performance of 1.40m to finish third overall, while in 200m, Joy Cupidon finished sixth overall in 29.40 seconds.

In 400m, Shane Fred finished second in 51.94 seconds, while in 200m, he clocked 22.98 to finish second overall.

Sean Confait featured in the 100m race where he finished fifth overall in 11.92 seconds, ahead of Luc Alcindor who finished sixth in 12.11 seconds.

In 200m, Alcindor was sixth overall in 24.70 seconds.

In the 800m, Michael Robinson clocked 2:11.01 which is also his personal best (PB) time, to finish fifth overall.

Rashid Payet competed in the 110m hurdles where he finished fourth in 15.60 seconds, while in the 100m, Imanuella Larue clocked 13.60 seconds to finish fifth.

In the medley races, both the girls’ and boys’ selections finished third.

The athletes were under the guidance of coaches Joseph Adam and Gerish Rachel.
