Victoria 250 years - On October 7, 1896 |07 October 2019

 On October 7, 1896, a law was passed that allowed corporal punishment for prisoners who commit certain offences such as escaping from custody. The corporal punishment was flogging. This was 15 strokes in the case of adults and 10 strokes in the case of juvenile offenders not beyond sixteen years of age.
