The Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade has sponsored three of its staff who will be taking part in the forthcoming Indian Ocean Islands Games to be held in Madagascar from August 25 to September 3.

In a ceremony yesterday afternoon at Liberty House, secretary of state in the Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade, Patrick Payet presented Angelique Adeline (female volleyball player), Rama Lesperance (male volleyball player) and Dashield Fanchette (boxer) with donations which have been graciously sponsored by staff of the ministry.

SS Payet has congratulated the athletes for making the final team and wished them the best of luck.

“Be positive, and make yourself proud. To have made it into the final team shows that you have what it takes to represent your country at one of the highest regional sporting events. Now is the time to shine, and showcase your skills and determination. Bring back the medals. Congratulations,” said SS Payet.

All three athletes say they are ready for the games and will give their all to bring back medals.

Absent for the ceremony, Minister Naadir Hassan has sent a message of congratulations to Angelique, Rama and Dashield.

“To represent your country is an immense honour and for you to have accepted that honour, I want to express my appreciation. Now that the games are upon us, honour your country, yourself and your talent by performing at your absolute best at every level of the competition. Stay positive and confident in your ability to face your opponents. Congratulations to all three of you,” said Minister Hassan in his message.
