Joint efforts to boost visibility of destination Seychelles in the region

Some highlights of the workskop

Air Seychelles together with the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) recently hosted an interactive workshop in Mauritius to provide top selling agents with the latest updates about the national airline and destination Seychelles.

The half-day session, held at the Voila Hotel in Bagatelle and attended by key destination management companies, hotel partners from Seychelles as well as representatives from 13 top travel agencies in Mauritius, forms part of the airlines’ strategy to continuously create awareness about its products and services.

As part of the session, participants had the chance to learn more about Air Seychelles’ newest acquisition, the Airbus A320neo aircraft, new inflight entertainment system ‘seyStream’, upcoming new destination on the airline’s network, including the ancillaries offered.

Michelle Lafortune, Air Seychelles’ manager for international sales who attended the workshop, said: “The workshop was very productive for the agencies, as it was the first time that we brought in local partners to the event, thus creating opportunity to build direct contact with the DMCs and hotels via one-to-one sessions.

“The agencies gathered useful information and established good contacts, which will allow them to effectively sell the airline and the destination to customers.

“In view of the increasing competition from other island destinations, educating the trade partners about the destination and the airline is of utmost importance to Air Seychelles, hence why the event was held jointly with STB to ensure collaborated efforts in all areas.”

STB’s senior marketing executive for Réunion and Indian Ocean, Bernadette Honore, said: “Equipping travel trade professionals with the appropriate marketing tools to sell the destination remains one of Seychelles Tourism Board’s main priorities.

“Thus as always, our focus is on showing the trade what sets the Seychelles apart from other holiday destinations in terms of attractions, things to do and experience.

“The support of the local trade partners namely, 7 degrees South, Summer Rain Tours, Mason's Travel, Seychelles European Reservation, Avani Seychelles Resort and Spa and Patatran Hotel was fruitful as it allowed the travel trade professionals to network and develop better tailor-made offers to propose to their clientele.”

Ms Honore also delivered a presentation focused on the variety of attractions available for visitors in the Seychelles.

This is the second time that Air Seychelles and STB jointly host workshop in the Mauritius market as part of efforts to further boost leisure travel between the two islands.
