Seychelles to host IFFB Grand Prix on October 21
• Seven pro cards up for grab
Local bodybuilding and fitness enthusiasts will soon have the chance to enjoy the sport at its highest level to be hosted in Seychelles with the upcoming International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation’s Seychelles Grand Prix competition scheduled to take place at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort and Casino on October 21.
The competition which will be divided into nine categories will be offering seven International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation (IFBB) pro cards, giving athletes the opportunity to follow a genuine career as a professional bodybuilder.
Speaking to Sports NATION, chairperson of the Seychelles Elite Pro Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (SEPABFF), which is the local legitimate affiliated body of the IFBB, said they are only acting as facilitators for the international competition which is being officially coordinated by the headquarters of the IFBB based in Madrid, Spain.
She said all contestants worldwide have to register online with the IFBB.
Mrs Pinchon explained that the competition will be an ideal opportunity for our local posers to take part in an international competition, especially with the difficulties attached to the sport, minimising their expenses.
She added that apart from the administrative element of the competition, the SEPABFF will not be involved in the logistic part which has been assigned to a local destination management company (DMC).
This, she said, is the perfect example of sports tourism, meaning the opportunity for sports activities to contribute to the economy.
For the show itself, there will be two elements, including a buffet and the show only.
Tickets prices are still being worked on for those who want to enjoy the buffet, and those who will come for the show only.
The competition will also be an opportunity for local bodybuilding judges, namely Gilles Pinchon and Roxy Athanase who have been accredited by the IFBB as international judges, to put into practice their skills acquired after receiving their cards following an intense one-week training last year in Santa Susanna, Spain.

Junior Classic Bodybuilding 16-23 years – Open
Junior Men’s Physique 16-21 years – Open
Men's Bodybuilding: 80 kg; 90 kg; +90 kg
Men’s Classic Bodybuilding: 171cm, 180cm; +180cm
Men's Physique: 170cm; 179cm; +179cm
Men’s Classic physique: OPEN
Women’s Bikini: 160cm; 169cm; +169cm
Women’s Physique: 163cm; +163cm
Women’s Fit-Model: 160cm; 168cm; +168cm
