PLS Hawks launch youth academy

A major force in local basketball, Plaisance-based PLS Hawks are looking forward in maintaining their reputation as one of elites, catering for new generations of players through their newly-launched academy which will ensure continuity through detecting and nurturing of new talents.

The new academy, a collaboration between PLS Hawks and the Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC) – under the Basketball for Good programme  – was officially launched last week during a ceremony held at the Les Mamelles district administration centre in the presence of member of the National Assembly (MNA) for Les Mamelles Bernard Georges, Mahmood Hassani of the Hassani Group Companies, Mu Jianfeng from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Seychelles – both sponsors – managers of the PLS Hawks basketball club, parents, players and coaches.

In his remarks at the ceremony, manager of PLS Hawks Richard Didon noted that through the academy, they are laying the foundation for aspirations, discipline and holistic development.

He said the academy’s vision is to empower the next generation, fostering growth, both on and off the court.

Mr Didon explained that their mission is to blend world class training, mentorship and community values, further, to ensure that the players do not only succeed in the game of basketball, but to also thrive in life.

Mr Didon seized the opportunity to invite everyone to join them on the journey, be it as a player, mentor, supporter, or fan, while thanking all the sponsors for their generous contributions.
