In a weekend filled with excitement and fierce competition, the much-anticipated Absa Seychelles National Golf Open Tournament took center stage at the stunning Lemuria Golf Club in Praslin. The event, which brought together some of the nation's most exceptional golfers, proved once again why it is a highlight on the Seychelles sporting calendar.

Absa Bank Seychelles, a steadfast supporter of golf in the country since 1975, reaffirmed its commitment to the sport as the tournament's proud sponsor. With nearly five decades of unwavering support, it stands as one of the longest-standing sports sponsorships in Seychelles' history.

Nazim Mahmood, managing director of Absa Bank Seychelles, expressed his pride in the enduring partnership with the Seychelles Golf Federation, spanning almost half a century. He underscored the pivotal role both entities have played in nurturing golf as a beloved sport in Seychelles.

The Absa Seychelles National Golf Open tournament showcased the skill and unwavering determination of 26 golfers in pursuit of a win. An age-diverse participant pool, ranging from early 20s to late 60s, came together for an exhilarating showdown on the greens. Many of them had previously clinched multiple victories in their respective categories, underlining their remarkable golfing prowess.

 

The event concluded with a display of exceptional talent and fierce competition. Here are the final results:

 

• Best day 1: Arnaud Martin secured the top spot with an impressive 32 points.

 

• Best day 2: Alex Ellenberger showed outstanding form on Day 2, claiming victory with 33 points.

 

• Third place Stableford: Richard D’Offay demonstrated consistency with a total of 63 points.

 

• Second place Stableford and ladies’ champion: Marcela Bristol impressed with 63 points, securing both the second spot in the Stableford category and the title of ladies’ champion.

 

•Winner Stableford: Peter Bennett emerged as the overall winner in the Stableford category, amassing an impressive 67 points.

 

• Senior champion: Godefroy Andrade showcased his skill and experience, earning the senior champion title with 61 points.

 

• Third place champion: Jerry Jean-Baptiste performed admirably, finishing with a total score of 149 gross points.

 

• Runner-up champion: Gary Pouponneau narrowly missed the top spot, securing the runner-up champion title with 148 gross points.

 

•Champion: William Weidner emerged as the ultimate champion, boasting a remarkable 147 gross points.
