  •          Michael Salum takes bronze

Three medals – two silver and one bronze – make up the total harvest of Team Seychelles at a recently held youth boxing tournament in Rostov, Russia, and which gathered a total of 114 young boxers between the ages of 13-15 years old.

The country’s young boxers also attended a training camp there.

Seychelles’ silver medals came from Jade Micock (75kg) and Wess Jean-Charles (85kg) after they both lost their final bouts.

As for the bronze medal, it came courtesy of Michael Salum who lost his semifinal bout in the 56.3kg category.

Other than his silver medal, Jean-Charles also received a trophy for best upcoming boxer.

The boxers who were expected back in the country yesterday were being accompanied by coaches Gerry Legras and Roland Raforme.

The trip was made possible under the twinning agreement between the City of Victoria and the City of

Rostov-on-Don, Russia.
