Le Duc de Praslin Hotel & Villas pledges R150,000 to disaster fund |09 December 2023

Following heavy rainfall that wreaked havoc in certain parts of Mahe on Thursday, Le Duc de Praslin Hotel & Villas has stepped forward with a substantial contribution to aid recovery efforts.

The hotel, under the stewardship of its owner Robert Payet, has pledged R150,000 to the ‘7th December Disaster Fund’, a special fund created for donors wishing to make financial contributions.

The move underscores the establishment’s deep-seated solidarity with the local community.

The donation is a reflection of Le Duc de Praslin's long-standing commitment to the Seychellois people, particularly in times of hardship. Amid the chaos wrought by the calamity, the hotel’s dedicated staff have been commended for their generosity and compassion, which played a critical role in making the contribution possible. Their collective effort not only symbolises unity but also sets a benchmark for corporate social responsibility.

In a heartfelt statement, the hotel's owner, Mr Payet, shared, “Our thoughts are with all those affected by the recent crisis on Mahé. It is our collective responsibility to come together and provide support to our brothers and sisters in need. Our donation and the contributions of our staff reflect our commitment to serving the community and making a meaningful difference during challenging times, together we do it."

In extending its support to the afflicted communities, Le Duc de Praslin is not only providing financial assistance but is also issuing a call to action for other hotels across the nation. The hotel urges its peers to join in a united front to amplify the impact and assist in rebuilding the lives of those devastated by the recent events.

The hotel’s initiative is a testament to the resilience and camaraderie inherent within the Seychelles hospitality industry. This act of generosity aims to catalyse a broader movement of communal support and highlights the importance of collaboration in overcoming adversity.

Le Duc de Praslin encourages public discourse on the matter and hopes that sharing this message will inspire others to contribute. The hotel and its staff stand as pillars of support, demonstrating that even in the darkest of times, the spirit of community and the will to assist those in need shines brightly.

With warm regards and a united vision for recovery, the hotel exemplifies the true essence of 'One Seychelles' – a nation that comes together in the face of hardship.
