Women’s defending vice-champions Arsu will today face Gendarmerie Nationale of Madagascar in the second semifinal of the ongoing 28th African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) Zone 7 Volleyball Club Championships, taking place in Madagascar, while Seychelles’ other representatives at events are engaging in the classification matches.

Arsu’s journey to the semifinal has been highlighted by victories in all their three group matches to finish as leaders.

Drawn in group B, they won their first match 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-18) against Tranquebar Black Rangers of Mauritius, before beating Zamfi Club de Mtezamboro of Mayotte 3-0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-6).

In their third and final group match on Monday, Arsu defeated Squad X-Club of hosts Madagascar 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, and 25-11) to finish as group leaders, booking a spot in the quarterfinal, where they eliminated St Denis of Reunion 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-14).

In today’s semifinal, Arsu will be up against Gendarmerie Nationale of Madagascar who eliminated City Ladies 3-1 (22-25, 25-10, 25-19, 25-18) in the quarterfinal.

The first semifinal will be contested between Tampon Gecko and St Denis Olympique of Reunion.

Seychelles’ other representatives at the championships, namely Premium Cobras Ladies, Premium Spikers, along with City Ladies are now playing classification matches for a final ranking at the competition.
