A group of students from the English River secondary school attended a talk on women’s rights and healthy mind and soul organised earlier this week by the Seychelles Women’s Lions Club.

The talk coincides with the upcoming International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25.

“The Women’s Lions Club chose to organise this talk on healthy mind and soul and how to end violence against women in the society. We were approached by two speakers, Khalyaan Karunakaran and Robert Ahweng, who wanted to talk about how women abuse can be prevented and how to overcome it,” says Mrs Kumar, president of Women’s Lions Club.

Mrs Kumar noted that English River is the first school to have such an activity, adding that the activities will run for fifteen days.

The club is planning to organise various activities for women throughout.
