48th National Day of the United Arab Emirates Seychelles joins UAE to commemorate milestone | 03 December 2019
The 48th National Day of the United Arab Emirates was commemorated yesterday at the Savoy Resort in the presence of President Danny Faure and Vice-President Vincent Meriton.
The Chargé d'Affaires at the United Arab Emirates (UAE) embassy in Seychelles, Ahmed Saeed Alneyadi, welcomed all the guests and noted that “on this day, our country embarked on a bold and optimistic journey of progress and development in order to achieve its vision across different fields by 2021; a vision which aims to make the UAE among the most competitive countries in the world by the Golden Jubilee of the Union”.
It was on December 2, 1971 that markerd the unification of the seven Emirates. In such a short time, the UAE is leading the way for being on the cutting edge of development in a number of fields.
Among the guests were the President of the Court of Appeal Jusctice Francis MacGregor, speaker of the National Assembly Nicholas Prea, leader of government business in the National Assembly Charles de Commarmond, leader of the opposition Wavel Ramkalawan, ministers and members of the diplomatic corps.
