St Louis sweep aside sorry City

With Dorian Hoareau netting a hat-trick, St Louis swept aside sorry Victoria City in an 8-0 mauling at Stad Linite on Thursday afternoon in a SeyPearl Premier League encounter.

It was the team of coach Joel Decommarmond’s second heavy loss in a week after being torn apart by St Michel 11-0 last Thursday and have now shipped in 19 goals which is really relegation form.

The players of coach Michel Renaud, who had drawn blanks against Anse Reunion last Friday, opened the floodgates in the 13th minute as Malagasy Tahiry broke forward to pick out his countryman Georges Kalo who steered the ball into the net at the far post for a 1-0 lead.

St Louis went further ahead two minutes later when Dorian Hoareau glided past a series of half-hearted tackles before unleashing a stinging shot into the bottom corner past goalkeeper Randolph Bijoux to make it 2-0 and in the 22nd minute midfielder Darren Anaou slipped a pass to Hoareau who swivelled and hit a fantastic dipping shot which went in via the post despite goalkeeper Randolph Bijoux trying desperately to stop the ball from crossing the goal line but was unsuccessful for a 3-0 advantage to grab his brace.

On the half hour mark, St Louis added a fourth goal after some neat interplay involving Johan Waye-Hive who played a superb cross field pass to his cousin Gervais Waye-Hive who flashed the ball across the City goalmouth to Jude Nancy who stabbed the ball home to make it 4-0 at half-time.

St Louis made it 5-0 in the opening minute of the second half from captain Bertrand Esther’s lofted pass over the City defence to Johan Waye-Hive who set up Hoareau who coolly planted the ball past goalkeeper Bijoux.

City rode their luck on the hour mark when Tahiry and Kalo exchanged passes to carve open a porous defence but Tahiry’s low shot came off the foot of the post.

St Louis brought in Karl Hall in the 63rd minute in place of Johan Waye-Hive as the 2017 league champions went for more goals and two minutes later, Hoareau hooked a pass to Gervais Waye-Hive who had beaten the City offside trap to lob goalkeeper Bijoux who was off his line for a 6-0 scoreline.

In the 77th minute, St Louis won a free kick on the edge of the City penalty area which Tahiry rifled through the grasp of goalkeeper Bijoux’s hands to make it 7-0 and in the 89th minute, Tahiry was fouled by Dareem Esparon and Gervais Waye-Hive curled a free kick at the near post which beat goalkeeper Bijoux’s dive to round off this emphatic 8-0 victory to boost morale in the St Louis camp and coach Renaud was happy with the goals galore after some indifferent results in recent matches.

“It was a crucial victory where the goals were needed to boost morale after goal scoring had been a problem for the team and today we brought in some young players to give them the experience and it was a satisfactory performance though there is still a lot of hard work to improve our performance,” St Louis coach Renaud, who gave a debut to a 14-year-old player in the shape of Dariel Esparon late in the match, told Sports NATION.

As for City coach Joel Decommarmond, he revealed to Sports NATION that he will contemplate quitting the role after the first round due to the attitude of the players which is resulting in such dismal performances and humiliating defeats.

“I think I will guide the team for its last league match then quit the job as the attitude of the players is not encouraging and I feel I’m wasting my time with players who are not interested to train and even reporting for matches,” City coach Decommarmond lamented.
