Red Star Defence Forces forfeit match against St Louis

 

Red Star Defence Forces have forfeited their SeyPearl Premier League match against St Louis played on February 14, 2020 and which they won 3-2.

The Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) has confirmed that despite losing the match St Louis have been awarded all three points and two goals because Clariel Rakotondraraminitra’s name featured on Red Star Defence Forces’ team sheet for the match. It adds that Malagasy player Clariel was at that time considered an “illegal player” because he had accumulated yellow cards in the following matches:

  • One yellow card against Côte d’Or on 19/10/2019
  • Two yellow cards against Au Cap which resulted in a red card on 31/10/2019 (The yellow cards were rescinded)
  • One yellow card against Anse Reunion on 23/11/2019
  • One yellow card against Northern Dynamo on 11/01/2020
  • One yellow card against Northern Dynamo on 25/01/2020
  • One yellow card against St Michel on 02/02/2020

A player who has accumulated up to five yellow cards is an “illegal player” and therefore cannot be listed for the next match, according to the SFF.

As per the SFF regulations, a player who has appeared on the team sheet is deemed to have participated in a match.
